Presidents' Welcome
Welcome to AUGSA
As graduate students, we carry many roles at once: researchers, professionals, caregivers, educators, leaders, and community members. AUGSA exists to make sure those voices are heard and taken seriously in the decisions that shape graduate education at Athabasca University.
As President, I see leadership as both responsibility and service. My role is to advocate with clarity, listen with care, and help build the conditions where graduate students feel represented, connected, and supported. This work is strongest when it is grounded in constructive partnership, shared accountability, and a commitment to the access, quality, and community that define AU’s mission.
AUGSA is also a space for graduate students to grow as leaders, learn how university governance works, and contribute meaningfully to the academic community around them.
Whether you are looking for support, hoping to get involved, or learning more about your graduate student association, I am glad you are here. AUGSA belongs to its members, and your voice matters in shaping what comes next.
Warmly,
Gelareh Keshavarz
President, AUGSA
