Indigenous History Month

Celebrating Indigenous Knowledge and Community at AU and Beyond

Events & Activities

If you are an Indigenous student there is an opportunity to participate in person at the Opening Circle in Edmonton on June 1st: This opportunity is intended for students who are in or near the Edmonton area, or who can travel easily to the gathering. Local transportation support, such as mileage, parking, or transit, may be available where needed. If interested contact Gelareh president@augsa.com

The Athabasca University Graduate Students Association (AUGSA) warmly invites AU students to take part in Celebrating Indigenous Knowledge and Community at AU and Beyond, a National Indigenous History Month event series taking place on Mondays in June. The series is led by AUGSA in close partnership with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, with support from the Wicihitowin Indigenous Student Alliance (WISA), Nukskahtowin, and other AU partners. The series will include an Opening Circle, conversations on Indigenous knowledge systems, Indigenous research in online spaces, student and alumni research, and a Closing Circle with AU community members and leaders. Indigenous students are especially invited to contact AUGSA about the June 1 in-person Opening Circle, where space is limited.
