Compensation: $18,000 per year (paid monthly)
Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week

About AUGSA

The Athabasca University Graduate Students’ Association (AUGSA) represents and advocates for the interests of graduate students at Athabasca University. AUGSA provides programs, services, and supports that enhance the student experience, promote academic success, and strengthen the graduate student community.

Position Overview

The Manager, Awards & Services is responsible for overseeing the administration and delivery of AUGSA’s student support programs, including awards, bursaries, and the Food Assistance Program. This role manages the full lifecycle of awards and bursaries, from application review and recipient selection to funding disbursement and record-keeping for auditing purposes.

The Manager also coordinates the AUGSA Newsletter, develops and distributes the annual membership satisfaction survey and report, and serves as a primary point of contact for graduate students regarding AUGSA-related funding opportunities and other services. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and updating policies and application materials, supporting the Executive Director, collaborating on awards system management with the technical provider, and identifying new services to benefit graduate students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all awards and bursaries, including application processing, recipient selection, and payment disbursement.

  • Maintain records for auditing and future reference.

  • Administer and oversee the AUGSA Food Assistance Program.

  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of the AUGSA Newsletter.

  • Develop and distribute the annual membership satisfaction survey.

  • Liaise with students to collect information required for awards and bursaries.

  • Update policies, deadlines, and application requirements related to awards and bursaries.

  • Serve as a point of contact for graduate students regarding funding and available services.

  • Coordinate with the vendors and the Executive Director regarding the Awards Management System and Food Assistance Program.

  • Research and propose additional student services in collaboration with the Executive Director.

  • Attend university meetings in a support capacity for AUGSA.

  • Provide coverage and support for the Executive Director as needed.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education and/or relevant experience in administration, student services, or program coordination.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Experience managing student awards, scholarships, or similar programs is an asset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or equivalent tools.
